Hey, Mecka here!
Today we’re going to be talking about Strike Missions, alongside my video Strikes In A Nutshell — an informative guide covering the Icebrood Saga 5 and Cold War (IBS5 + CW) Strike Missions.
In this article and video, we’ll be looking at:
- What you need to take part in strikes
- What formations and builds are recommended
- Where to go to form your team
- Basic mechanics for each strike (where applicable)
- The rewards you can expect for completing them
Gear & Team Setup Explained
In the video, I mention that you only need exotic gear to take part in Strike Missions — and that’s absolutely true. Exotic gear is more than enough to get started, and you don’t need ascended gear to join our groups.
For our runs, we organise into two teams, each made up of:
- 1 Healer
- 4 Damage Dealers (DPS)
This setup keeps things simple, stable, and beginner‑friendly.
For Newcomers: How to Start as a DPS
If you’re brand new and want to play a damage dealer, here’s the easiest starting point:
- Aim for Berserker gear (Power / Precision / Ferocity)
- Choose Berserker stats on all your armour, weapons, and trinkets
- Look up a Power DPS build on the MetaBattle or Snow Crows website
- Check the Raids or Strikes sections for recommended builds
- These builds are simple, effective, and perfect for learning the basics
This gives you a strong, reliable foundation without needing expensive gear or complicated rotations.

The Video
Don’t Forget Your Weekly Chest
In the video I go over the rewards you get from each individual strike, but I forgot to mention one important extra: the Weekly Strike Chest.
You can open this chest once per week at the Eye of the North. The rewards you receive depend on which strike missions you’ve completed that week. The more strikes you finish, the better your weekly rewards will be.
It’s a nice bonus on top of the normal loot, so make sure you swing by the Eye of the North after your runs and claim it.

Each orb represents a strike you’ve completed for the week. As you can see, one of my orbs isn’t lit — that’s because I haven’t completed that particular strike this week, and it’s also why it wasn’t included in the video. It’s a handy way to track your weekly progress at a glance.
